Is Genevieve's new track a dream or a nightmare?
A different kind of review for Genevieve's latest single 'Dreams'.
This month saw London's born and based artist Genevieve release her newest song 'Dreams'. The Folktronica track (synth-folk for anyone like me who didn't have a clue about the genre,) is the first of many to come.
The single's combination of experimental synth instrumentation mixed with her free spirit vocal provides a sense of calmness, and can make you feel as you are floating. My personal favourite part is 'hear the lion roar' as for some reason it makes me think of Pocahontas. Perhaps it's the way I feel as though I'm levitating around leaves in the autumn breeze, without a care in the world. Then again, that's the best part of music - it's open to interpretation.
'Dreams' is definitely an acquired taste though, as her musical presentation has a very unique twist to it. Honestly, it's something I can't quite put my finger on, which leads me to you. If you are in fact an Anna Calvi fan then this will be right up your alley, and I think it's something you more than likely will enjoy. However, it is a bit out there and is far away from popular music played on the radio.
I'll let you decide whether it's a dream or nightmare?
